**Short answer:** Quantico, Virginia had 11 courts-martial charging Article 134 (general article) in 2024–2026, and all 11 ended in a conviction. Of the 11 accused, 5 contested at least one charge (45%), compared with 29% in all Navy and Marine Corps Article 134 cases. Only 6 of the 11 sentences included confinement, but the median confinement was 2.8 years.

Based on 11 cases · 2024–2026 · Navy and Marine Corps records · data updated October 24, 2026

## Contested Cases Without a Full Acquittal

Of the 11 accused, 6 pleaded guilty and 5 contested at least one charge. A case is contested when the accused pleads not guilty to at least one charge. The contested share was 45%, higher than the 29% in all Navy and Marine Corps Article 134 cases in 2024–2026.

None of the 5 contested cases ended in a full acquittal (0 of 5). The same was true in 2019–2023, when 0 of 7 contested cases with a verdict ended in a full acquittal.

## Fewer Sentences With Confinement, but Longer Terms

Of 11 convictions, 6 included confinement. In 2019–2023, 89% of convictions at Quantico included confinement. The median confinement in 2024–2026 was 2.8 years, compared with 1.2 years in 2019–2023 and 1.5 years in all Navy and Marine Corps Article 134 cases.

The median rests on only 6 terms, so a few long sentences can move it. These are adjudged sentences, before any plea-agreement cap, clemency, or appeal, and each covers every charge in the case.

## Other Charges Filed With Article 134

Article 134 was the only charge in 6 of the 11 cases. Article 120b (child sexual abuse) was charged in 2 cases. Article 92 (orders violation), Article 80 (attempt), Article 120c (indecent recording and exposure), and Article 106a (wearing unauthorized insignia) were each charged in 1.

## Discharges and Court Level

A punitive discharge followed 6 of 9 enlisted convictions. In 2019–2023, the share was 61%. A punitive discharge is a bad-conduct or dishonorable discharge, and a sentence without one does not rule out a later administrative separation.

General courts-martial heard 7 of the 11 cases (64%), and special courts-martial heard the rest. The general share was 63% in 2019–2023\. A general court-martial can impose long confinement and a dishonorable discharge.

## 2019–2023 Compared With 2024–2026

The earlier period had 19 cases over 5 years, about 4 a year. The yearly rate since 2024 is also about 4: there were 4 cases in 2024, 4 in 2025, and 3 so far in 2026, a partial year. These 11 cases were 22% of the 49 courts-martial at Quantico in 2024–2026.

The contested share went from 54% to 45%. With 19 and 11 cases, a few cases can change any of these figures, so the changes show a direction only.

## New Rules for Cases Since 2024

Since December 28, 2023, special trial counsel, not commanders, decide whether to prosecute covered offenses such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and murder. When every guilty finding in a case is for an offense after December 27, 2023, the military judge sets the sentence under new sentencing parameters.

Both rules depend on the offense date. The records give only trial dates, so the 2024–2026 cases include some tried under the old rules and some under the new ones.

## What the Records Cannot Show

The records cover only cases that reached a courtroom. Nonjudicial punishment, administrative separations, and cases with no action are not included. The records also do not describe the evidence or the plea terms.
